On Monday, March 23, 2020 the City City Council voted 6-1 to postpone the May 2, 2020 General and Special Elections to November 3, 2020, unless an order from Texas Governor Greg Abbott provides an earlier date.

The council’s current motions allows for the resolution to be amended from November to another date should it be approved by the Governor.

The City Secretary’s Office is responsible for conducting municipal elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas.

The Mayor and Council Members are elected at-large.

Upcoming City Elections

May 2, 2020 - General Election (This election was postponed to November 3, 2020 unless an order from Texas Governor Greg Abbott provides an earlier date.)  By postponing the election date, the City is preserving all candidate filings and ballot order actions that have already taken place.  This postponement does not have the effect of reopening candidate filings.
