Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Mansfield Citizens Fire Academy class, which starts April 7.
The 10-week class, held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, is open to all Mansfield residents ages 18 or older, as well to people who work in Mansfield. Applicants for CFA will undergo personal background checks as part of the registration process.
Among the course subjects: fire department organization and operation, fire safety and protective gear, home and business fire safety, CPR training, emergency medical services, vehicle extrication and training in firefighting (including participation in a live burn at the Arlington Fire Training Center).
Graduates of the program may join the CFA Alumni Association, which provides support services to the Mansfield Fire Department and participates in special events in the community throughout the year.
