Top 10 toddler programs in Mansfield this fall

The big kids have headed back to school, but that’s no reason for the little ones to be bored.

Experts agree the early years are crucial to development, but that doesn’t mean parents need to commit to rigorous academic standards or strict schedules. In fact, child development specialists say some of the most beneficial learning comes accidentally, when the children think the lesson is just part of playtime. Concepts that come naturally through exploration are more likely to be absorbed and enforce the idea that learning is fun, not a chore.

Mansfield parents are finding a ton of educational and enrichment options for preschoolers right here within our own Parks & Recreation Department. With affordable, schedule-friendly options in a variety of subjects, it’s the perfect, low-pressure way to expose preschoolers to new experiences and help them find a new passion or just get active. From socialization to science, here’s 10 ways to keep those little hands busy this fall.

Toddler Time
Tue/Thursday 9-11am
Mansfield Activities Center
Free (MAC membership required)

One of the best lessons for little ones is socialization, and the Mansfield Activities Center’s Toddler Time is just that. This twice-weekly playdate is free to MAC members and offers a safe, climate-controlled place for moms and tots to connect and play. MAC staff members set out a rotating selection of playthings including bounce house, balls, rolling toys, mats and more, but there’s no guided lesson or structured class. Simply drop in and out as time allows, meet new friends and catch up with the old ones. Kids can work on their fine and gross motor skills and those all-too-important intangibles like sharing and communication with peers.
