Library’s Summer Reading Club is out of this world

The Mansfield Public Library is blasting off into a ‘Universe of Stories’ for the 2019 Summer Reading Program

“This summer’s theme celebrates the vastness knowledge to share with all,” said Julie Crisafulli, youth services librarian. “Not to mention, this summer is the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. So its an appropriate theme for this summer’s reading club.”

Reading club runs from June 1 through July 26 with registration opening at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1. Participants may register online from the library’s website or in person at the library, 104 S. Wisteria St.

The Summer Reading Club wrap party is 2-4 p.m. Friday, July 26, with activities set up in the Mansfield Activities Center gym, the library community room and the courtyard between the two buildings. Enjoy carnival games, a jump house, rock painting and more.

All ages are welcome to join the Summer Reading Club. Readers may choose between tracking their hours online from the library’s website or use a paper reading log.

Children ages 5-12, teens ages 13-17 and adults age 18 and up must read at least five hours to win a treasure chest prize and an entry into the drawings for grand prizes. Parents may even involve their little ones ages 0-4 by reading 20 books to them for a prize.

Grand prizes are bigger than ever this year. Children, teens and adults may win prize packs full of restaurant gift cards, movie tickets, STEM kits, art kits, books signed by the authors and so much more.

The library is even doing a Free Friday book giveaway every week on their Facebook page. Like the library Facebook page and look for Free Friday Giveaway posts for your chance to win.
