Reconstruction project to close a portion of Seeton Road

A portion of Seeton Road in southeast Mansfield will be closed this summer as crews reconstruct the embankments and roadway on either side of the bridge that crosses Joe Pool Lake.

The project, which begins May 24 and is expected to be completed by Aug. 11, will repair the deteriorating embankment area on both sides of the road and bridge approaches and reconstruct the roadway. Public Works officials say previous repairs are no longer adequate to maintain the roadway to an acceptable condition.

“The earth around the roadway must be removed and reinforced,” said David Boski, assistant director of public works for the city. “We have mitigated the situation as much as we can without significant reinforcement and reconstruction.”

The work is just south of the intersection of Day Miar and Seeton roads, beginning 1,000 feet from the southern-most driveway at Lake Ridge High School and ending just north of the Seeton Road/Edge Water Drive intersection.

Reconstruction work near the Seeton Road bridge will close the roadway through mid-August.

Residents and drivers using Seeton Road will detour onto Grand Meadows Boulevard, Day Miar Road, Holland Road and National Parkway.

“No neighborhood or streets in this area will be inaccessible during the reconstruction. It will just require residents and drivers to travel around the effected portion of the road. The detour is essentially a large circle from the beginning of the construction zone around to the other side of the construction zone.”

The reconstruction will impact residents in the Spring Lake Estates neighborhood, which is located between Seeton and Holland roads. Residents accessing the neighborhood from the north via Day Miar and Seeton will now detour to South Holland Road, and if necessary, travel to National Parkway then drive east.

Mira Lago residents (east of Day Miar Road and north of Seeton Road) must access areas to the west via Grand Meadow Boulevard or East Broad Street.

Although the reconstruction is taking place during the summer months, any parents or students traveling to Lake Ridge High School must access the school via Holland Road, Grand Meadow Boulevard and Day Miar Road.
